Obituary of Florence Kane

Florence Kane November 18, 1915 - January 10, 2009 Florence (Hafer) Kane, age 93, formerly of Lawncrest Road, Danbury, wife of the late Thomas Kane, died at Bethel Health Care Center on Saturday, January 10th. She was born in Danbury on November 18, 1915, daughter of the late Frank and Clara (Outhouse) Hafer. She was a graduate of Central Connecticut State University, graduating with a B.A. in Elementary Education. Mrs. Kane was a teacher at South Street and Morris Street Schools in Danbury, as well as Consolidated School in Brookfield. She retired in 1981 from Park Avenue School in Danbury. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Danbury. While raising her family, she served as president of the Danbury Junior Service League. She was also a member of the Retired Teacher's Association. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles and oil painting. She will be sadly missed by her sons, Richard T. Kane and his wife, Judith of FL, Christopher F. Kane and his wife, Arlene of PA; her daughters, Kathleen Leach of Danbury, and Barbara Novella and her husband, Michael of Danbury; her grandchildren, Eileen Parsons, Mark, Thomas, and Michael Kane, Kevin and Allison Novella; and ten great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mariangela Hafer of HI; as well as a niece and nephew. Florence was predeceased by her brother, Thomas. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 13th at 1:00pm at St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The Cornell Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.
