Sr. Anne Keily, CND (Sr. St. Anne of Jesus) of Wilton, CT died at Lourdes Health Care Center on April 13, 2009 at the age of 81.
Born in Long Island City, NY Sr. Anne was the daughter of John and Margaret (McPhillips) Keily. Sister Anne pronounced her first vows as a religious sister in the Congregation of Notre Dame in 1949, making this the year of her 60th Jubilee. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in French and her Master of Arts Degree in French Literature from Fordham University. Sr. Anne continued her studies and received her Doctoral Degree in French Literature from the State University of New York at Albany.
Throughout her life, Sr. Anne served as a dedicated teacher of French and Mathematics and later as a school administrator. Her educational ministry took her to Waterbury, CT, New York, NY, Schenectady, NY, and Staten Island, NY. In her educational ministry, Sr. Anne always manifested an eye for the future. Combining her intellectual curiosity with her vision for the future, Sr. Anne was instrumental in establishing the school's first computer lab at Notre Dame Academy, Staten Island.
Sr. Anne is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, James and Anne Keily, and by her nieces and nephew and their families. She is mourned by her lifelong friends in the Congregation of Notre Dame and by the many people whose lives she has touched. Funeral Information
Friends may call at Villa Notre Dame, 345 Belden Hill Road in Wilton, CT on Thursday, April 16 from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Villa Notre Dame at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 17. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in Danbury, CT.
