Richard P. Kiniry, of New Milford, husband of the late Mabel (Wallin) Kiniry, died at Candlewood Valley Health on January 5th. He was born in Cambridge, MA on August 19, 1921, son of the late John and Ruth (Dillon) Kiniry.
Mr. Kiniry was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Navy in the European Theater. He held multiple positions throughout Connecticut as a mechanic and machinist.
After his retirement, he enjoyed his vegetable and flower gardens. He loved woodworking and would create decorative items to be displayed in his gardens. He was a skilled craftsman and shared his fine wood carvings with his loved ones.
He will be sadly missed by his son, Paul Kiniry and his wife, Mary of Norwalk; his beloved daughter-in-law, Mary Kiniry of Danbury; his grandchildren, Robert Kiniry, Elizabeth Kiniry, and Jason Kiniry; his great granddaughter, Maeve Jackson. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Donna Degruy and her husband Randy of Louisiana; his stepson, David Wallin of Florida; as well as several step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Richard Kiniry. Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 20th at 11:00am at St. Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Road, Danbury. Burial of cremains will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel. There are no calling hours.
