John H. Knapp Sr.
May 17, 1935 - November 03, 2005
John "Jack" H. Knapp, Sr., 70, of Valley Stream Drive, Danbury, devoted husband of Kathleen "Kaye" (Gravesen) Knapp, died at Danbury Hospital on Thursday, November 3rd. He was born in Danbury on May 17, 1935, son of the late Harold T. and Rachael (Smith) Knapp.
Jack was a lifelong member of the Danbury community, graduating from Danbury High School, Class of 1953. He was currently working as Sales Manager for Watts International, as well as owning and operating Connecticut Casino Supply, both in Danbury. He was the former owner and operator of Best Chemical Products.
An active member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Jack served as Governor in 2001 and most recently served as President of the State Association in 2004 and 2005. He was also a member of the Masonic Fraternity and Union Lodge #40AF and AM; the Danbury Elks Lodge #120; Americo Vespucci and the Bethel Lions Club. He was past president of the Danbury Kiwanis Club and past president of the Southern New York Racing Association.
In addition to his wife, Kaye, he is survived by his son, John H. Knapp, Jr. and his wife, Lisa of Danbury; his daughter, Kathy Knapp and her partner, Patty McIlvenny of Danbury; his five grandchildren, John H. Knapp III, Jennifer Knapp, Christopher Knapp, Alexandra Serrao and Michael Hudak, all of Danbury. He is also survived by his sister, Diana Knapp Bates of Waterbury; Deborah Badaracco and her husband Lawrence of Danbury, Harold and Jeffrey Knapp of Danbury, Jean Schnabel of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at Walnut Hill Church, Bethel, on Tuesday, November 8th at 10:00am. Burial in Wooster Cemetery will follow.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Sunday, November 6th between the hours of 3 and 8pm. Loyal Order of Moose Service will take place at 7:00pm. Donations Information
