Martin Krizan
June 06, 1921 - February 24, 2007
Martin Krizan, age 85, died peacefully at Harborside Convalescent home on Saturday, February 24, 2007. He was the beloved husband of Catherine (Simek) Krizan.
A lifelong Danbury area resident, Mr. Krizan was born on June 6, 1921, a son of the late John and Anna (Simek) Krizan. He served his country during WWII; he was first stationed at Lehigh University for Officers Training. Later he was stationed in Japan. After his discharge from the Army, he enrolled at the University of Connecticut where he graduated with high honors. He taught Math and Science to 7th and 8th graders in the Danbury School System.
Earlier in life, he worked as a hatter and also as an accountant for Norbert Mitchell Oil Co. Marty loved his garden and every summer raised corn, strawberries, squash and tomatoes, distributing them to his family and friends. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church
Mr. Krizan had a wonderful relationship with his siblings who now survive him; 5 brothers: Stephen, George and his wife, Marlene, Samuel and his wife Marie, all of Danbury; Emil of Monroe, CT, Daniel and his wife, Nancy of Port Orange, FL; 4 sisters: Elizabeth, of Danbury, Susan Henderson and her husband Robert of Thomaston, CT, Chris Musgrave, of Danbury, and Paula Scozzafava and her husband John also of Danbury. He also leaves three sisters-in-law: Vivian Krizan, Christine Fusek, and Mildred Mansfield of Glen Burnie, MD; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by a sister, Anna, and brothers John, Jr. and Paul. Funeral Information
The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Burial in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery will follow. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 26, 2007 at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury from 3:00 until 7:00. Donations Information
