Betty Bednar

Betty (Bjelko) Bednar, age 90, of Southbury, wife of the late John Bednar, Jr., died at the Lutheran Home in Southbury on Saturday, May 16th. She was born in New Jersey on June 21, 1919, daughter of the late Martin and Anna (Sedlak) Bjelko.
Mrs. Bednar was a homemaker who devoted herself to her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Danbury and was active in their Women's Guild.
She will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Betty Ann Hitt and her husband, Carlton of Woodbury, Sharon Irons and her husband, Walter of Southbury; her son, John Bednar, III and his wife, Heather of Woodbury; and her six grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Ann Carlson Brookfield; her sister-in-law, Mary Gleason of Danbury; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Martin, Steven, and John Bjelko; and her sister, Sue Miller. Funeral Information
Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Tuesday at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Monday, between the hours of 4:00 and 7:00pm.
