Barbara (Miller) McCarthy, 89, formerly of Brookfield Commons, Brookfield, wife of the late Francis McCarthy, died at New Milford Health and Rehab, on Monday, December 5th. She was born in Danbury on March 16, 1916, daughter of the late Clarence and Anna (Tappan) Miller.
She worked as a legal secretary for Attorney Eli Milmer and was active in politics during her younger years.
Mrs. McCarthy was a talented seamstress who made beautiful custom clothing. She loved Cape Cod and spent many happy times with her family there.
She will be sadly missed by her two sons, Robert T. White and his wife, Ann of New Fairfield, and David A. White, Sr. of Higganum; her six grandchildren, Gregory, Robert and Stephen White, Jeanine Teney and David White, Jr. She is also survived by five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday, December 9th at 7:00pm with the Reverend Laura Ahern, Rector of St. James Episcopal Church, Officiating. Cremation will take place at the direction of the family. Donations Information
