James J. Murphy, MD., formerly of Danbury, devoted husband of Margaret "Peg" (Schirmer) Murphy, died in Asheville, North Carolina on September 13, 2003, at the age of 65. He was born in Danbury on September 2, 1938, son of the late James and Frances (Kerr) Murphy.
Besides his loving wife of 40 years, Dr. Murphy is survived by his daughters, Margaret Frances Murphy and partner, Lisa Goodlet of GA. And Bridget Murphy Gutzmer and her husband, Thomas of VA.; four grandchildren; sisters, Marilou Blaine, Joan McGuire, Susan Carbone, and Elizabeth Chmielewski; a brother, Dr. Frank Murphy; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at Central Christian Church on West St., Danbury, on Saturday, January 10th, 11:00am with Pastor Leo McIlrath officiating.
