Gertrude Murphy, 90, of Brookfield, died January 16, 2006, at CandlewoodValleyHealth Center in New Milford. She was the daughter of the late David and Madelin Doty and wife of the late Howard C. Murphy. Gertrude was born on April 4, 1915, in Whitehall, N.Y.
Gertrude was a member of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church in Brookfield and also a 20 year resident of Brooks Quarry Senior housing in Brookfield. Gertrude was a very active member of the Bingo Babes and was proud to be one of 13 children.
She is survived by two sons, Howard Murphy Jr. and his wife, Ruth, of Anaheim, Calif., Ralph Murphy and his wife, Helen, of Torrington; one daughter, Lynne Herpel, of Brookfield; one brother, Rodman Doty, of New Jersey; four grandchildren, Dennis Herpel Jr., Darrin Herpel, Frank Murphy and Howard Murphy III; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Gayle Murphy, and one granddaughter, Debbie L. Herpel. Funeral Information
There are no calling hours, and services will be held private at the convenience of the family. Brookfield Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
