As a young child in the 1960s, I was fortunate to have been in the choir at St Marks Methodist Church as a member of the Chorister choir and Hand Bell choir. He exposed us to a broad range of music and pushed us to always do better.
One of my fondest memories was participating at Riverside Church in New York. As a young girl, walking into this magnificent church, the joining of voices and the beautiful music left a huge impression on my soul.
I never knew how involved he was throughout other choirs in New York. We were very blessed to have known him

I just received the obituary from a friend last year, 2013. Remembering "Charlie" fondly from days in Brooklyn when I sang with the St. Mark's Methodist Church choir and Charles Pope Choristers. It is wonderful to read his many accomplishments. My most recent (but not so recent)time I saw Charlie, was when I went to a gathering in Ridgefield and Christopher was a baby. Never knew of the second son and grandchildren. Those days in Brooklyn were some of the best, and being under the leadership of Charlie in both choral and youth groups were some of the best times.

To the whole Pope family,
Jim and I will forever be changed as a result of singing under Charles' direction. He was an inspiration creatively and always challenged us to do more than we thought we could musically. He exposed us to so many types of music and was never afraid to let the emotion in the music be expressed. We will miss him.
