Leona A. (Chilson) Purcell, 78, of Old Shelter Rock Road, Danbury, cherished wife of James Purcell, died at home on Friday, February 9th. She was born in Sylvan Beach, NY on January 18, 1929, daughter of the late Ralph and Myrtle Chilson.
Mrs. Purcell worked as an inspector for American Radionics for ten years. She was a dedicated homemaker and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be sadly missed.
In addition to her husband of 40 years, James, she is survived by her four beloved children, Pamela Buesser and her husband Eric of Shelby, NC, Debra Verrastro and her husband James of Bethlehem, Thomas Purcell and his wife, Marilyn of Raleigh, NC, and Glenn Purcell of Missouri; her grandchildren, Candy Dufour, Patricia Fell, Richard Szabo, Hope Hill, Jayme Szabo, Glenn Purcell, and Sarah Vollin; and thirteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by her two brothers, Donald and Ronald Chilson, both of Rome, NY; her sister, Thelma Theall of Sylvan Beach, NY; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, John Scott Maxwell and her sister, Dorothy Holmes. Funeral Information
Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Monday, February 12th at 7:30pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00pm.
Burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown, will take place on Tuesday, February 13th at 10:00am.
