Joel D. Purdie, 71, of Wooster Heights, Danbury, devoted husband of Kirsten (Jaxheimer) Purdie, died at Bethel Health Care on Saturday, March 24th. He was born in Norwalk, on March 9, 1936, son of the late Robert and Grace (Harris) Purdie.
Mr. Purdie served with the United States Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked as a tree surgeon for the City of Norwalk and later retired from the Shipping and Receiving Department of Pepperidge Farm in Norwalk.
He was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danbury. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and had a special fondness for his daughter's dogs.
In addition to his beloved wife of 49 years, Kirsten, he is survived by his cherished children, Eunice Renee Kennedy and her husband, Kevin of Bethel, Ruth Ann Purdie-Dyer and her husband, Gary of New Milford; his two grandchildren, Raymond P. Kennedy and Colleen E. Kennedy; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his three brothers and four sisters. Funeral Information
Funeral Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 18 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury, on Thursday, March 29th at 11:00am. Burial in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery will follow.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Wednesday, March 28th between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00pm. Donations Information
