March 15, 1942 - May 10, 2008
Helena "Lonnie" L. Romaine, age 66, of Boulevard Dr., Danbury, devoted wife of Milton R. Romaine, died at Danbury Hospital on Saturday, May 10th. She was born in New Jersey on March 15, 1942, daughter of the late Edward and Marjorie (Cusack) Schindler.
Lonnie previously worked as cafeteria manager for Mill Ridge School, and most recently as a cashier for Discount Liquors for 15 years. She was a member of St. James Church.
She was very active in Moose Lodge #1373, was Sentinel Woman of the Moose Chapter 314, and served as First Lady over the past five years.
A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she will be sadly missed.
In addition to her husband of 24 years, Milton, she is survived by her two cherished sons, Richard H. Houle and his wife, Elizabeth of Naugatuck, Edward T. Houle of Torrington; her ten grandchildren; and one great grandchild. She is also survived by her four sisters, Patricia Houyou and her husband, Joseph, Karen Comerford and husband, Eugene, Donna Joyce, and Robin Wooster and her husband George, all of Danbury; her two sisters-in-law, Carol Roos of Danbury and Mary Romaine of Waterbury; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Wednesday, at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00pm.
