Dr. Lilyan Ruderman

Dr. Lilyan (Meyers) Ruderman, 88, of Washington Avenue, Danbury, wife of the late Dr. Victor Ruderman, died at Danbury Hospital on Friday, November 3rd. She was born in New York, NY., on February 11, 1919, daughter of the late Benjamin and Florence Meyers. She received her Doctor 's Degree in Education from Columbia University.
Dr. Ruderman was an adjunct professor at Western Connecticut State University, a professor of Clinical Psychology at Hunter College, and a professor of Special Education at Lehman College in the Bronx, NY.
She was also an opera singer at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City and played leading rolls in all of the major operas. She was involved with the Danbury Cultural Commission, as well as many other community music programs. She was a volunteer psychology trainer at Ann's Place, and a volunteer at Praxair Cancer Center. Lilyan also ran programs at the Danbury Senior Center.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Richard Asselta, his wife, Nelly of Danbury; two grandchildren Victor and Shirley-Ann and several nieces. Funeral Information
