Augusta Louise "Goody" Ruopp, 87, of Barnum Road, Danbury, cherished wife of Paul H. Ruopp, died at Danbury Hospital on Saturday, July 14th. She was born in New York, NY on March 30, 1920, daughter of the late Michael and Augusta (Marks) Bessel.
Mrs. Ruopp was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1938. She served as an Air Raid Warden for the Town of New Fairfield during World War II.
Mrs. Ruopp worked as a bookkeeper for Enterprise Service Station alongside her husband for 29 years. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, sang in the choir, and took part in many church and school activities. She also enjoyed serving as Den Mother for her sons Cub Scout Pack 55.
In addition to her beloved husband of 61 years, Paul, she will be sadly missed by her three sons, Paul H. Ruopp Jr and his wife, Kathleen of Monmouth, ME, George M. Ruopp and his wife, Donna of Shapleigh, ME, and Peter D. Ruopp and his wife, Penny of Brookfield; her daughter, Dale A. Ruopp and her companion, David Holland of Bangor, ME.; her five grandchildren, SPC 4 Shannon Ruopp of the US Army, Capt. Paul Ruopp III of the US Army and his wife, Heather L., SSgt. Allyson Rodriguez of the US Army, Heather R. Ruopp, and Andrew Tower and his wife, Robin; and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her two brothers, Henry Bessel and his wife, Jenny of Danbury, Richard Bessel and his wife, Ruth of Searsport, ME; her sister-in-law, Norma Bessel of New Fairfield; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Arthur, Robert and Eric Bessel. Funeral Information
Funeral Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Danbury, on Wednesday, July 18th at 11:00am. Burial in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery will follow.
The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday morning between 10:00 and 11:00am. The Cornell Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements. Donations Information
