Thomas G. Russell Sr.
August 08, 1924 - August 13, 2006
Thomas G. Russell, Sr., died at Bethel Health Care Center on Monday, August 13, 2006, at the age of 82. He was the husband of Rosemary (Lerose) Russell. Mr. Russell was born in Bridgeport, Ct on August 8, 1924. He was the son of the late Howard C. and Gertrude (Litchenberg) Russell.
A proud Navy veteran of WWII, he received Battle Stars for service aboard the U.S.S. Ingrahm, serving at the battles of Leyte Gulf, the liberation of the Philippines, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. Mr. Russell retired from Barden Corp. as a supervisor of material and inventory control after 38 years. He was a member of St. Josephs R.C. Church in Brookfield and served in the Boy Scouts, Sea Scouts, and the Explorer Scouts, as well as coaching Little League in Bethel, Ct. He loved golf, and enjoyed fishing and boating.
Besides his loving wife of 24 years, he is survived by his 3 sons; Thomas Jr. and his wife Karen, of Brookfield, Dean and his wife, Penny, of Canbury, N.J., and Todd and his wife Missy, of Danbury. His daughter, Kathy Barrett and her husband Ted, of Starksborough, Vt. 14 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchild. 2 Step-Sons; Robert Krebs and his wife Susan, of Walkill, N.Y., and Vincent Krebs, of Brookfield. His brother, William Russell and his wife Irene, of Bridgeport. 2 Sisters; Gertrude Haviland, of Kansas, and Patricia Russell, of Bridgeport. He was pre-deceased by his Step-Daughter, Susan Krebs-Reese, and siblings, Lawrence, John, Howard, and Irene. Funeral Information
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 16, 2006, at 11:00 am, at St, Josephs R.C. Church, in Brookfield. Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family, with burial of cremains in Arlington National Cemetery, with full military honors.
Friends may call at St. Josephs Church at the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Josephs Church, Rte 133, Brookfield, Ct 06804.
