Richard E. Santarsiero

Richard E. Santarsiero, age 60, of New Milford, devoted husband of Gay (Austin) Santarsiero, died at Stamford Hospital on Friday, July 3rd after a brief illness. He was born in Stamford on January 24, 1949, son of Marion (Bottomly) Giordano of Stamford and the late Victor Santarsiero. He was a graduate of Stamford High School.
Richie owned and operated Metro Roofing Supplies, Inc. for 14 years, having worked there for many years prior. He was a generous man who supported several community groups, including Habitat for Humanity, and many children's sports leagues.
He was a member of the Over 40 Softball League in Danbury and served as past president. He was an avid classic car collector, loved NASCAR, playing golf, and was a fan of the Yankees, Giants and Rangers. Richie was also a bird enthusiast.
Most importantly, Richie was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved to be with his grandchildren and was a major influence in their lives.
In addition to his wife of 10 years, Gay, and his mother, Marion and her husband, Phillip, he will be sadly missed by his son, Richard Victor Santarsiero of New Milford; his daughters, Missy Santarsiero and her fiancé Samuel Rivera of Naugatuck, Kimberly Ramsay and her husband, Christopher of Brookfield, and April Jones and her husband, Charles of Danbury; his six cherished grandchildren, Sebastian, Jonathan, Juliette, Domenick, Katherine, and Leah. He is also survived by his sister, Gloria Ferris of West Haven; and extended family member, Rene Santos and her husband, Carlos of New Milford, and their children.
Richie was predeceased by his previous wife, Debra S. (Piskura) Santarsiero; and his nephew, CJ Ferris. Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 8th at 10:00am at St. Gregory the Great Church, Danbury. Entombment in Wooster Mausoleum will follow.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Tuesday evening between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00pm. Donations Information
