Margaret "Marge" Schoonmaker
August 07, 1944 - December 17, 2004 Margaret Schoonmaker
Margaret "Marge" Schoonmaker, age 60, died on Friday, December 17, 2004 at her home surrounded by family and friends after her second courageous battle with cancer.
Margaret was born and raised in the Bronx, NY on August 7, 1944, a daughter of Al and Jean (Barbera) Aversano of the Bronx. She was very proud of her Bronx heritage and talked about it often. She was a graduate of St. Helena's Business School, Bronx, NY. Marge was an enthusiastic worker and was employed by New York Telephone and then by Catholic Charities in Brookfield. She truly valued the relationships she formed during her working years.
She will be remembered by her family and friends for her hearty laugh and wonderful sense of humor. She was a loving friend who was always willing to listen and support... Her friends refer to her as "the rock" that they leaned on. She loved non- judgmentally and unconditionally.
Marge instructed all of those who knew and loved her : "Don't mourn my death, but celebrate my life".
Most of all, Marge loved her daughters and being a "Grammy". Besides her parents she is survived by two daughters: Laura Barbieri and her husband Anthony and their daughters Brooke Ann, Kati Ann, and Jami Lee of Danbury; Jeanne Marie Pavlinsky and her husband William and their daughter Abigail Marie Pavlinsky of Danbury; 2 brothers: Neil Aversano and his wife Joanne of Middletown, NY; Philip Aversano and his wife Mary of Yorktown Heights, NY; a sister: Mary Ann Errante and her husband Peter of Holmes, NY; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her former husband, Charles Schoonmaker.
The family sends a very special thank you to Dr. John Pezzimenti and his staff, and to Dr. John Spera and his staff, and to the staff at Regional Hospice for the loving and compassionate care they gave to Marge. Funeral Information
