Obituary of Wilhelmina Starr

Wilhelmina (Gormley) Starr June 17, 1917 - March 16, 2007 Wilhelmina (Gormley) Starr, of Candlewood Park, Danbury, wife of the late Gerald J. Starr, died at Danbury Health Care Center on Friday, March 16th. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 17, 1917, daughter of the late Francis and Wilhelmina (McKelvey) Gormley. Mrs. Starr made her home in the Danbury area in 1952. She worked as a machine operator for Barden Corp in Danbury for more than 25 years. After her retirement she enjoyed working in the lunchroom at Huckleberry Hill School in Brookfield. She also enjoyed traveling. Most importantly, she was a devoted homemaker who provided a loving home for her husband and children. She will be sadly missed by her three sons, Stephen Starr and his wife, Elaine of Glendale, NY, Vincent Starr and his wife, Barbara of Danbury, and Leonard Starr and his wife, Deborah of Rogue River, OR; her two daughters, Elizabeth Linke of Danbury and Frances Weston, who provided her with care and support in her final years. She is also survived by her fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; and her brother, David Gormley and his wife, Jean of Bowie, MD. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by her son, Robert Starr and her sisters, Elizabeth Hopkins and Viola Nasso. Funeral Information A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, March 22nd at 11:00am at St. Peter Cemetery. The Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, has been entrusted with arrangements.
