Edward Vincent Struski, 82, passed away on September 27, 2007 surrounded by his family at Candlewood Valley Health Center in New Milford following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was the husband of Phyllis (Tencza) Struski of Bethel.
Ed was born to Michael and Stella Struski in Portland, Maine on January 2, 1925. He moved to Danbury at a young age and attended Sacred Heart School and Abbot Tech. He left school to join the Navy and proudly served during WWII where he also excelled as a Navy boxer.
Ed was a member of Sacred Heart Church and sang in the choir for most of his life. He belonged to Catholic War Veterans and the Danbury Drum Corps. During a long working career he worked at Danbury High School, St Joseph's School, Stetson Hat, Bard-Parker and Mariano Brothers.
In addition to his wife he leaves behind a son Edward of Bethel, daughter Sandy Zielinski and her husband Mark, and two grandchildren, Paige and Brendan Zielinski all of Bethel. He is also survived by two brothers, Stanley Strusky (Gerri) and Joe Strucky (Lynne) of Danbury. He was predeceased by his sisters Irene and Josephine, and brothers Benny, Connie and Mike. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Danbury. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery will follow.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Sunday between the hours of 6-8pm.
