Elmon Joseph Tatroe
July 19, 1925 - September 22, 2005
Elmon "Tate" Joseph Tatroe, Jr., age 80 of Brookfield died peacefully at home on Thursday, September 22, 2005. He was the husband of Cecelia (Perrone) Tatroe.
Mr. Tatroe was born in Stamford on July 19, 1925, the only child of Elmon J. and Cecilia (Zerbraini) Sr. He was a decorated Army Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater who received the Purple Heart for injuries received in Okinawa. Upon his return to the states, he married Cecilia and they moved to the Brookfield area and raised their children.
He was a cement truck driver for O & G Industries, previously known as Telesco, retiring in 1990. He and his wife retired to Florida returning a few years ago because of his declining health. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Vets, the Knights of Columbus Candlewood Lake Council #11913, VFW Legion in Danbury, was a volunteer firefighter for New Fairfield Firehouse, and a parishioner of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys where he enjoyed serving as an usher and greeter. Most of all, Elmon was a family man and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife of 59 years, he is survived by a daughter: Geraldine A. Tatroe of Brookfield; 4 sons: Elmon J. Tatroe and his wife, Barbara of Waverly, Iowa, Timothy A. Tatroe and his wife Lisa of Danbury, Brian J. Tatroe and his wife Doreen of Naugatuck, and Michael A. Tatroe and his fiancé, Beth Dunn of New Milford; 8 grandchildren: Dina Quinn and her husband Carian, Louis J. Persico and his fiancé Laurie Anne, Todd Tatroe and his wife Jen, Adam Tatroe and his wife Carrie, Randy Tatroe, Danielle Tatroe, Kristen Tatroe, and Brian Tatroe; 3 great grandchildren: Camryn Tatroe, Michaela and Declan Quinn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 28th at 10:00am at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 27th between the hours of 5 and 8pm at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Rd., Brookfield. Donations Information
