Virginia B. Tyra

Virginia B. Tyra, age 86 of Southbury, died on Monday, February 21, 2005 at Bethel Health Care. She was the wife of the late Chester Tyra.
Mrs. Tyra was born on June 21, 1918, a daughter of the late Clarence and Anna Belle (Cordiner) Bickford. She was raised and educated in White Plains, NY. Mrs. Tyra was the Director of Medical Records for the Blythedale Children's' Hospital for 13 years before her retirement in 1980. A long time Brookfield resident, she moved to Southbury 5 years ago. She was a member of the Brookfield Senior Center, Brookfield AARP Chapter 756, and a member of the First Reform Church in North Tarrytown.
Mrs. Tyra is survived by a daughter, Linda Maraglino and her husband Nicholas of Danbury; a brother: Howard Bickford of Waltham, MA; 4 grandchildren: Daniel, Mark, Michelle, and Jonathan. She was predeceased by a son, Charles and brother, James. Funeral Information
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 24, 2005 from 5:00 until 8:00 in the evening at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury, CT. Donations Information
