Mr. Fred J. Valentino, age 80, of Grace Meadows, Southbury, passed away on Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at Danbury Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the widower of Mary B. (Mulhern) Valentino.
Mr. Valentino was born in New York City on Feb. 9, 1929, beloved son of the late Carmine and Catherine (Rosa) Valentino. He was a longtime Danbury resident and retired after many years from Chemical Bank in New York. He was a veteran of the Army, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Southbury Senior Center, VFW, Moose Lodge, an avid musician, a skilled shoemaker, and a communicant of St. Gregory the Great Church.
Fred, affectionately known as "Freddy" had a passion for people and enjoyed spending time with his many friends and family. He will be deeply missed by everyone he touched.
He was father to two sons Peter and Paul Valentino of Southbury, father-in-law to Mary Valentino, brother to Marietta Del Duco, grandfather to Marisa and Justine Valentino, and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Funeral Information
His funeral will be held on Thursday, September 24th, at 10 a.m. from the Cornell Funeral Home, 247 White St., Danbury, to St. Gregory's Church, 85 Great Plain Rd. Danbury, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Holy Mount Cemetery, Eastchester, NY.
Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 23rd, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Donations Information
