Neal Michael Vetrano
April 26, 1926 - December 21, 2008
Neal Michael Vetrano, 82, of Bigelow Road, New Fairfield, devoted husband of Catherine (Lobraico) Vetrano, passed on peacefully with his loving family around him, at Danbury Hospital on Sunday, December 21st. He was born in Yonkers, NY on April 26, 1926, son of the late Gennaro and Teresa (Coppola) Vetrano. He was a parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Church in New Fairfield.
Mr. Vetrano was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army. He worked for the Highway Department for the Town of New Fairfield, and was also self employed.
An active member of the New Fairfield community, Mr. Vetrano was a member of the, the New Fairfield Veterans Group, and served as past treasurer for the Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of the Senior Citizens Center
In addition to his cherished wife of 56 years, Catherine, he will be sadly missed by his son, Neal M. Vetrano, Jr. of Newtown; his two daughters, Lisa Weir and her husband, Jay of Danbury, and Tina Vetrano-Krebs of New Milford; his five grandchildren, Michael Bahr and his wife, Natalie, Autumn Weir, John Weir IV, Chelsea Weir, and Lea Krebs; and his great granddaughter, Reese Bahr. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Tony Krebs of New Milford; his brother, Eli Vetrano and his wife, Rose of FL; his sisters, Clara DiDonato of NY, Kay Gardella of MA, and Beulah Politi of NY; as well as many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 27th at 10:00am at St. Edward the Confessor Church in New Fairfield. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday evening between the hours of 5:00 - 8:00pm. Donations Information
