Barbara Ziegler

(Anna) Barbara Ziegler, 79, wife of the late Gerald Ziegler, died in Sierra Vista, Arizona, on September 7, 2005. She was born in Danbury on June 28, 1926, the youngest daughter of William and Anna (Deboben) Jennings. She was a graduate of St. Joseph School and Danbury High School, class of 1944.
Prior to her marriage to Gerald in 1948, Barbara worked as a telephone operator for New England Telephone on West Street. In 1949, together with her husband, she founded Ziegler Custom Carpet Cleaning, Inc. The family business is operated today by Phillip, the youngest of the Ziegler children.
After retiring from Ziegler's in 1976, Barbara worked part time for Grolier Enterprises as a customer service representative until 1997.
Barbara was a resident of Danbury in the family home on Farview Avenue for 42 years, wintering in Tombstone, Az. For the last four years. She moved there permanently in November 2004 to be closer to three of her children.
Barbara was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Danbury for more than forty years.
She will be sadly missed by her sons, Peter, Douglas and his wife, Dianne, Phillip and his wife, Carol, James and his wife Marianela; her daughters, Gerrianne and her husband Gary Bielefeldt, Nancy and her husband, Ron Russell; her grandchildren, Bryan and Daniel Bielefeldt, Jelena Russell, Jim Thompson, Shannon Chambry, Ashley Schemine; as well as several great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 16th at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Burial in Wooster Cemetery will follow.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Thursday, September 15th between the hours of 5:00 - 8:00pm. Donations Information
