Obituary of Kaete Angel
Kaete Angel
July 02, 1941 - July 11, 2008
Kaete (Richter) Angel, age 67, of Great Oak Lane, Redding, devoted wife of Alfons A. Angel, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Friday, July 11th with her family by her side. Daughter of the late Walter and Henny (Stuehrenberg) Richter, Kaete was born in Nordenham, Germany on July 2, 1941 and immigrated to the United States in 1960. She lived and worked as a bookkeeper in the Wilmington, DE area until moving to Bethel, CT in 1973. From 1980 until the present she worked as a realtor for Century 21, William Raveis Real Estate and finally as owner/broker of Angel Homes Real Estate, Redding CT. She was an active member of the Danbury Board of Realtors and Toast Masters International.
Kaete had a passion for gardening and world travel, having toured Europe extensively, as well as visited China and Australia. While her illness kept her from doing many of the things she loved, she was able to continue her framed, intricate, crochet work which was featured in the Joy of Survival Art Show at the Praxair Cancer Center. Many of her pieces were sold for charitable causes. Kaete faced her illness for 7 years with bravery and her trademark wit and laughter. She was an inspiration to all who knew her including the doctors and nurses who treated her.
In addition to her beloved husband of 46 years, she will be sadly missed by her cherished daughter, Birgit O'Connell and her husband, Lt Col John O'Connell of Toms River, NJ. Her grandchildren, Kaete Mary, Kristin Nicole, Alicia Marie, and Patrick Michael O'Connell will forever be the four brightest lights of her life and will all dearly miss their "Omi". Another that Kaete treasured was her best friend, Rosalind Serna, who held her hand through some of the most difficult moments. Kaete is also survived by her dearly loved brother, Werner Richter and his wife Renate of Damme, Germany as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Information
