Vincent S. Cascio, age 82, of Tilden Road, Danbury, devoted husband of Margaret R. (Schulz) Cascio, died peacefully at Bethel Health Care Center on Saturday, November 7th. He was born in West Haven on January 10, 1927, son of the late Salvatore and Concetta (Billage) Cascio. He was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church.
Mr. Cascio was a Veteran of World War II, serving as a Staff Sergeant for the United States Army. He was a recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippines Independence Ribbon, the World War II Victory Medal and the State of Connecticut War Service Medal. He went on to work as a supervisor in the Heat Treat Department at Barden Corporation.
He was a past member of the VFW, the Amerigo Vespucci Lodge, and the Richter Art Association. He was a talented artist, receiving many awards for his acrylic and watercolors. His special interests were Danbury history, the great American Impressionists and oriental art, which he expressed in his artwork. He also enjoyed bird watching, caring for and feeding wild birds and creating unique bird houses and baths.
Most importantly, Mr. Cascio was a devoted family man who was happiest spending time with his loved ones.
In addition to his beloved wife of 56 years, Margaret, he will be sadly missed by his son, Gregory Cascio of Danbury; his two daughters, Judy Taylor and her husband, Arthur of Richfield, MN, and Susan Conway of Bethel; his eight grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew and Gabriele Cascio, Michele Turrentine and her husband, Sam, Heather Keola and her husband, James, Arthur Taylor, John and Thomas Conway; his two great grandchildren, Krista and Shameus. He is also survived by two nephews, and one niece. Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 12th at 11:00am at St. Gregory the Great Church, Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery with full military honors. There are no calling hours. The Cornell Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements. Donations Information
Memorial Contributions may be made in his memory to the Bethel Health Care Center Recreational Fund.
