Ruth I. Antunes, 72, of Main Street, Danbury, wife of the late John Antunes, passed away on Thursday, August 10th. She was born in Danbury on July 24, 1934, daughter of the late Lewis and Helen (Gardner) Hawley.
Mrs. Antunes was a lifetime member of the Danbury Community. She enjoyed bowling, gardening and was an avid golfer. She was honored with various awards for quilting, arts and crafts. She was a generous person who loved to help others.
She will be sadly missed by her three sons, David L. Chandler of Orlando, FL., Michael J. Antunes of Lakesite, TN, and Arthur J. Antunes of Middlebury; her seven grandchildren, Heather Lynn Hapanowich, Ryan and Jordan Antunes, Richard C. and Thomas G. Hubbard, Tony J. and Amanda J. Panagrosso; her great grandson, Julien Durkin. She is also survived by her sister, Helen Fiaschetti of Bedford, VA, as well as several nieces, nephews; her dear friends, Alan Traccola, Harriet Miller, and Mary Saunders; and many other friends whose lives she touched. Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Monday, August 14th at 12:00pm. Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday between the hours of 10:00am and 12:00pm.
