Bessie Elizabeth Cooper, age 73, of Swansea, MA, formerly of Mountainville Avenue, Danbury, wife of the late Asa Cooper, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 18th in Providence, RI., after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Providence, RI on November 7, 1934, daughter of the late Le Grande T. Stanley and Sophie Cooper.
Bessie was a devoted homemaker who loved being a mother and raising her 14 children.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Le Grande Cooper, Sr. of New Milford, Gary, Edward, Asa, and Richard Cooper, Elizabeth, Charlotte, Carrie, Gloria, Amy, Sophia, Kitty, Mary and Jeanie Cooper; nearly 50 grandchildren, including Le Grande, Jr., Sabino, and Giovanni Cooper, all of New Milford; and numerous beloved great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, William Stanley, Sr. of Brookfield; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and William Cortez of Woodbury. .
She was predeceased by her sister, Carrie Stanley. Funeral Information
Funeral Services will be held at Faith Church in New Milford on Saturday, December 22nd at 12:00 Noon. Burial will take place in the spring in Prince of Peace Lutheran Cemetery. .
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday, December 21st between the hours of 4:00 and 8:00pm.
She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts. We love you.
