Joan D. Czyz, age 67, of Pleasant Rise, Bethel, devoted wife of Roman J. Czyz, died on Tuesday, November 11th at Westchester Medical Center, after a brief illness. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 1, 1941, daughter of the late Edward and Jean (Gontarski) Nakoneczny.
Joan most recently worked as a secretary for Atty. Fred Baker in Danbury, and previously at Sacred Heart Church.
Joan was a parishioner of both Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Danbury, and St. Mary in Bethel. She was a Eucharistic Minister and had previously served on the Sacred Heart Parish Council and was a past officer of the Ladies Guild. She was a member of AARP #1067 in Danbury, and was currently serving as secretary.
In addition to her husband of 45 years, Roman, she will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Ellen J. Czyz of Bethel, Christine C. Lawlor and her husband, Rick of Bethel, and Lori H. Czyz of New Milford; her two grandchildren, Michaela and Ricky Lawlor; and her sister, Helen M. Nakoneczny of Bethel. She is also survived by her uncle, Walter Garett of Bethel; and her aunt, Joan Wieczkicwicz of Long Island, NY. Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 15th at 10:30 am. at Sacred Heart Of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel. There are no calling hours.
