Emilio DeGrazia
January 21, 1930 - December 23, 2009
Emilio DeGrazia, age 79, of Danbury, devoted husband of Pasqualina DeGrazia, died at Danbury Hospital on Wednesday, December 23rd. He was born in San Bernardo, Cantanzaro, Italy on January 21, 1930, son of the late Rosario and Rosina (Nero) DeGrazia.
Mr. DeGrazia made his home in the United States in 1947. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving with the United States Army. He was a recipient of the Army of Occupation Medal (Germany). He worked as a production mechanic for Barden Corp, Berol-Eagle Pencil, and retired from Danbury Pharmical Schine Co.
He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Danbury since 1956, and was a member of the Korean War Veterans. He enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family, military vehicles and taking part in public parades with his sons.
He also enjoyed beekeeping, and raising farm animals. He was also an avid woodworker, creating beautiful frames and birdhouses. He loved nature and taking walks on "His" mountain with his grandchildren and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife of 58 years, Pasqualina, he will be sadly missed by his four sons, Russ A. DeGrazia and his wife, Charlene of Brookfield, Emilio G. Degrazia and his wife, Dona of Bridgewater, Romolo J. DeGrazia and Remo J. DeGrazia, both of Danbury; his five grandchildren, Emily, Miles, Madeline, Rosario, Jr., Stacie Leigh, Jodie Bucu and her husband, Gracian. He is also survived by his sister, Frances DeGrazia of Danbury; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Andrew. Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 28th at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery with full military honors.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Sunday, December 27th between the hours of 4:00 and 7:00pm. Donations Information
