Vincent Dono
November 16, 1920 - January 29, 2005
Vincent Dono, age 84, of Southbury, CT formerly of Cortlandt Manor, NY, died on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at Danbury Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Elizabeth (O'Boyle) Dono.
Mr. Dono was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 16, 1920, a son of the late Frank and Theresa (Bonagura) Dono. He was raised in Brooklyn. As a young man, Vincent enlisted in the US Navy serving during WWII in the Pacific Theater on the USS Day. After the war he continued his career at Norden Laboratories; during his 25 years there he worked on the development of the first Norden bombsite. He began as an electronics technician and finished his career as a supervisor. He and his wife moved to Southbury 2 years ago and became parishioners of Sacred Heart Church in Southbury.
He was a member of the Yorktown BPOE Lodge #2324, was an avid golfer, sports enthusiast and a great gardener. Vincent enjoyed his key role in life -being a grandfather.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by 2 sons: Michael Dono and his wife Dorothy of Brookfield, CT, Robert Dono and his wife Deborah of Mercerville, NJ; 4 grandsons: Matthew, Marc, Michael J., and Stephen; a great granddaughter: Haley; his only surviving sibling: Edna Pareso of Coram, NY; and many nieces and nephews Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Southbury. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and from 7:00 to 9:00 at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Rd., Brookfield, CT. Donations Information
