Elizabeth Dono
August 11, 1921 - August 28, 2009
Elizabeth "Betty" (O'Boyle) Dono, formerly of Allan St., Cortlandt Manor, NY wife of the late Vincent Dono, died at Bethel Health Care Center in CT on Friday, August 28th. She was born in PA on August 11, 1921, daughter of the late Maurice and Amanda (Davis) O'Boyle. She was a graduate of Bishop McDonalds High School in Brooklyn NY and was a longtime resident of Cortlandt Manor.
Betty was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Navy in Quantico VA in the Hospital Corps. She later worked as a clerk for the Veteran's Hospital in Montrose for several years. She was a vocalist at St. Columbanus School, and was a member of the Sweet Adeline's Choral Group. She was a literacy volunteer at the Peekskill Public Library and was a founder of the Physical Education Program at St. Columbanus School.
She is survived by her two sons, Michael Dono and his wife, Dorothy of Brookfield, CT Robert Dono and his wife, Deborah of Mercerville, NJ; her four grandsons, Matthew, Marc, Michael J., and Stephen; and her great granddaughter, Haley Dono. She is also survived by her brother, Arthur O'Boyle of Denville, NJ; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her three brothers, Maurice, James and Thomas. Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 31st at 10:30am at St. Mary Church, Bethel. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, CT on Sunday between the hours of 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00pm. Donations Information
