Sr. Agnes Arsenault, CND (Sr. St. Agnes of Peace) of Wilton, CT died at Lourdes Health Care Center on March 22, 2009 at the age of 104.
Born in Tignish, Prince Edward Island, Canada, Sr. Agnes was the daughter of Avis Arsenault and Margaret Gaudet Arsenault. After entering the Congregation of Notre Dame in 1930, Sister pronounced her first vows as a religious sister in 1932. Throughout her life, Sr. Agnes served others with great joy and love as a cook and laundress. Her ministry took her to Montreal, Canada, Lewiston, ME, Providence, RI, Kankakee, IL, and New York City, NY. In 1980, Sr. Agnes joined the sisters in Ridgefield, CT where she continued to find ways to serve others through her genuine spirit of hospitality and her hard work. Sr. Agnes served the sisters until, at the age of 99, she decided it was time for her to retire. Sr. Agnes's spirit of joy and peace and her genuine love and concern for others won for her a place in the hearts of all who knew her.
Sr. Agnes is survived by her nieces, nephews, and their families in Canada. She is mourned by her lifelong friends in the Congregation of Notre Dame and by the many people whose lives she has touched. Funeral Information
Friends may call at Villa Notre Dame, 345 Belden Hill Road in Wilton, CT on Wednesday, March 25 from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM. A prayer service will be celebrated at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Villa Notre Dame at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 26. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in Danbury, CT.
