Walter J. Ferris Jr.
July 22, 1929 - January 25, 2009
Walter John Ferris, Jr., age 79, of Edgewater, Florida and a long time resident of Danbury, husband of Dorothy (Matusick) Ferris, died on Sunday, January 25th at Danbury Hospital. He was born in Danbury on July 22, 1929, son of the late Walter, Sr. and Marie (Schmidt) Ferris. He attended Danbury Schools.
Mr. Ferris was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the United States Navy from 1948 until 1953. He was employed at and owned several businesses in Danbury until his retirement from Eaton Corporation in 1992.
In addition to his beloved wife of 57 years, Dorothy, he will be sadly missed by his daughter, Candis Ferris McCarty and her husband Matt of Southbury; his two sons, Charles Ferris of Bethel and Walter "Jay" Ferris and his wife, Sokha Au-Ferris of Brookfield; his eight grandchildren, Jennifer Miranowicz and her husband, Simon, and Matthew McCarty all of Richmond, VA, Charles Ferris, Jr., Jason Ferris, and Brian Ferris, all of Danbury, Anyar Au-Bloom, Zachary Au-Ferris, and Aiden Au-Ferris, all of Brookfield; one great granddaughter, Kayden Noel Miranowicz. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Ferris of Palmer, Alaska and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday, January 30th at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Cottage Street, Danbury.
