Charles G. Gaal

Charles G. Gaal, 74, of Lavelle Avenue, New Fairfield, died at Candlewood Valley Health Care Center on Thursday, September 23rd. He was born in Manhattan, New York on April 24, 1930 and grew up in the Bronx. He was the son of the late Charles, Sr. and Ida (Varga) Gaal. He was a graduate of New York University with Bachelors in Geology and a minor in Biology.
Mr. Gaal was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving with the United States Army.
In his early years he worked as a Geologist for the State of New York before becoming a medical service representative for Park Davis & Co. He went on to own and operate Evergreen Realty in Danbury. Most recently, he worked as a Real Estate Appraiser and Substitute Teacher for Danbury and New Milford Schools.
In his retirement, he enjoyed teaching assignments in "Rocks and Minerals" courses at elementary level classes for Student Enrichment Programs for Danbury and surrounding towns. He also enjoyed membership in the Danbury Mineralology Society.
He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie A. Gaal of Van Nuys, CA; his two sons, Charles A. Gaal and his wife Amy, of Bridgewater, and Steven A. Gaal and his wife, Diane, of Westchester, Ohio; two granddaughters, Hannah Catherine Gaal and Olivia Grace Gaal; as well as his brother, Joseph Gaal of the Bronx. He was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Gaal. Funeral Information
The family will receive friends at Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Monday, September 27th between the hours of 4 and 7:00pm. A Prayer Service will take place at 7:00pm with military honors.
