Thomas F. Gallagher

Thomas F. Gallagher, of Cornell Road, Danbury, devoted husband of Frances (Bonacci) Gallagher, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Tuesday, July 10th. He was born in Danbury on December 26, 1926, son of the late Thomas and Ruth (Andrews) Gallagher. He was a lifetime member of the Danbury Community and a parishioner of St. Peter Church.
Mr. Gallagher was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army Battery "A" 675 Glide Field Artillery Battalion. He was a recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal. He worked for the New York, New Haven, and Hartford Rail Road in Signal Maintenance for almost 50 years. He was also active at the family bicycle shop, Bike Express, in Danbury.
A loving father, he enjoyed taking part in his son's childhood activities, such as volunteering as Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader. He also enjoyed membership in the Richter Park Men's Club and The Danbury Railway Museum. He loved going camping and being outdoors.
In addition to his beloved wife of 57 years, Frances, he will be sadly missed by his four sons, Thomas E. Gallagher of Oak Park, IL., John P. Gallagher of New Milford, Stephen M. Gallagher of Southbury, and Peter J. Gallagher of New Milford; his three grandchildren, Heron, Shannon and Kerry Gallagher. He is also survived by his brother, Eugene Gallagher of North Carolina, his mother-in-law, Rose Bonacci; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, James Gallagher; and his sister, Grace Stender. Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 13th at 10:00am at St. Peter Church, Danbury. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery will follow.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Thursday, July 12th between the hours of 4:00 and 7:00pm. Donations Information
