Doris Jean (Raymond) Gemza, 82, of Danbury, beloved wife of Atty. Theodore A. Gemza, died at their home on Saturday, January 16th with her family by her side. She was born in Danbury on October 2, 1927, the daughter of the late Clyde D. and Florence L. (Mills) Raymond. She was a graduate of Danbury High School, class of 1945, and Crandall Secretarial School in 1946.
Doris Jean worked as a legal secretary for her husband's law office Gemza & Daly, for many years. She was a past volunteer for the Red Cross and a lifetime member of St. James Episcopal Church in Danbury, where she volunteered in the Church office, taught Sunday school, and was Secretary of the Vestry for 17 years. She was a past member of the Garden Clubs of both Danbury, CT and Naples, FL, where she won awards for Japanese Ikebana flower arranging.
Most importantly, Doris Jean was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker who loved spending time with her family and traveling the world.
In addition to her husband of 60 years, Ted, she will be sadly missed by her two cherished daughters, Tancy Jean Gemza and Marcie E. Gemza, both of Danbury.
Funeral Services will be held at St. James Church on Thursday, January 21st at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place in the Ridgefield Cemetery in the Spring. Funeral Information
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Wednesday between the hours of 3:00 and 7:00 pm. Donations Information
