Obituary of Joseph J. Gillotti

Joseph J. Gillotti June 28, 1922 - January 30, 2008 Joseph J. Gillotti, 85, of Pond Ridge Road, Danbury, devoted husband of Lucy (Martino) Gillotti, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Thursday, January 30th. He was born in Danbury on June 28, 1922, son of the late Dominick and Frances (Novella) Gillotti. He was a graduate of Danbury High School. Mr. Gillotti was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army. During his high school years as well as in the Army, he loved to play basketball. Along with his family, he owned and operated D. Gigliotti and Sons Market until 1971. He then owned and operated J. Gillotti and Son Construction from 1969 until his retirement in 1989. A devoted parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church, he attended Mass daily. He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans, Post 1042, and a life member of the VFW Post 149. In addition to his beloved wife of 60 years, Lucy, he will be sadly missed by his son, Dominic J. "Butchie" Gillotti of Hollywood, Fl; his daughter, Lucille F. Alberto and her husband, John of Danbury; and his grandson, Justin R. Alberto and his fiancé, Krisinda Dielemans of Wilmington, DE. He is also survived by his two sisters, Rose Setaro and her husband, Dom of Danbury, and Mary Trocolla of Bethel; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, John, Ralph and Russell Gillotti. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 2nd at 10:00am at St. Gregory the Great Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday (Today) between the hours of 4:00 and 8:00pm at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury.
