Joseph E. Baker, 65 of Brookfield, died on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 in Easton MA as a result of a plane accident. He was born January 6, 1943 in Richmond, Virginia. He is the son of the late Joseph Julian and Martha Duerson Baker.
Joseph attended the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton Business School and obtained his MBA in 1968. He was a Lieutenant on the USS Barbel of the United States Navy and was a USS Trigger Submarine Officer from 1968 to 1972. He worked at the Union Carbide Corporation from 1972 to 1986. From 1986 to 1990 he was a Business Controller at Amoco Performance Products. From 1994 to 2008 he was a realtor for Ravies Real Estate, Coldwell Banker Real Estate and McCaffrey Real Estate.
Joseph was very involved with the community of Brookfield. From 1983 to 1989 he was Treasurer for the Valley Presbyterian Church, from 1998 to 2008 he served on the board of Trustee's for the Presbytery of Southern New England, from 1991 to 1996 he served on the Brookfield Board of Education, from 1997 to 2007 he served on the Brookfield Charter Revision Committee, from 2000 to 2008 he served on the Brookfield Republican Town Committee, from 1994 to 2008 he was a starter and judge and also a record keeper for the Brookfield Swimming Team and Joseph was a part of the Boy Scouts of America, Eagle Scouts, Order of the Arrow from 1992 to 2008.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Terri E. Robinson Baker, Son, Peter J. Baker currently attending the University of Oregon, Eugene, Oregon, son, Jeffrey R. Baker, currently attending Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona and Daughter, Martha A. Baker, currently attending Boston University Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts. Funeral Information
