George R. Godfrey Jr.
November 18, 1916 - July 11, 2006
George R. Godfrey, Jr., age 89, of Granite Drive, Bethel, husband of the late Rose (Germinaro) Godfrey, died at Candlewood Valley, in New Milford, on Tuesday, July 11th. He was born in Danbury on November 18, 1916, son of the late George R. Sr., and Bessie (Parsons) Godfrey.
Mr. Godfrey worked as a hatter for Neumann-Endler in Danbury, and later as a metal worker for Connor Engineering in Danbury. He was a parishioner of St. Mary Church, Bethel.
He is survived by his two sons, George R. Godfrey, III and his wife, Joan of Bridgewater, and Richard A. Godfrey and his wife, Marie of Bethel; his six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by his two brothers, Harold and Clarence Godfrey, both of Danbury; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Frank J. Godfrey; his granddaughter, Laura Godfrey; and his sister, Bessie Mitchell. Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 14th at 10:00am St. Mary Church, Bethel. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery will follow.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White street, Danbury, on Thursday, July 13th between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00pm. . Donations Information
