Ralph A. Griffing, "Randy," 57, husband of Norma (Raeburn) Griffing of New Milford, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 2nd after a long, brave battle with cancer. Randy was born in Danbury, son of Sara Higson of New Milford and the late William C. Griffing. He attended Brookfield High School and Henry Abbot Tech, where he studied carpentry.
Randy worked in the construction business for many years and was also the owner of the local retail store, "Tools of the Trade" in both New Milford and Danbury. Most recently he was employed as a home improvement specialist for Case Remodeling of Wilton. An avid woodworker, Randy loved his workshop and furniture making, especially in recent years making cradles, toys and toy boxes.
Along with his loving wife of 37 years, Norma, and his mother, Sara, Randy is also survived by his children, Christy Lewis and her husband, Paul of Winston-Salem, NC, Shannon Griffing of Raleigh, NC, and Andrew Griffing of New Milford; his sister, Virginia Genest of Palm City, FL; and his brother, Paul Griffing of Salisbury. He was also the very proud grandfather of Madelyn and Tyler Lewis, Addison and Payton Hernandez. He will also be missed by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Funeral Information
A Graveside Service will be held at Wooster Cemetery on Friday, August 7th at 11:00am. The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, on Thursday evening between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00pm.
