Obituary of Barbara J. Held

Barbara J. Held February 14, 1927 - December 19, 2004 Barbara J. (Ellis) Held, of Danbury, Ct., died suddenly Sunday, December 19th. . She was born on February 14, 1925, in Poultney Vermont, daughter of the late Albert and Mabel (Hughes) Ellis. She moved to New York as a young girl. Barbara was married to John Held on September 8, 1952. Although their marriage ended in divorce in 1984, they remained close friends. She lived in Brookfield for over thirty years before moving to Danbury in 1999. A woman of energy and spirit, Barbara was a life force to all who knew her. She was a real estate agent for over 20 years, first with Area Realty in Brookfield and Tom Collins Agency of Danbury. She was a board member of MLS. Barbara was a founding member of the Danbury Chapter of Planned Parenthood, and played a very active role in the organization for many years. In her second career life, she worked in the emergency room at Danbury Hospital as a registrar. Barbara leaves behind her loving family; Lynn Krugman and husband Sam of Putnam Valley, New York, John Held II and wife Jennifer of Oviedo, Florida; Grandchildren Noelle and Wesley of Florida; as well as her longtime companion, Robert Denton of Danbury. She was pre-deceased by her son William, and ex-husband John. Funeral Information Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home on Wednesday evening at 7:00pm. Cremation and interment will take place at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00pm.
