Louise M. (Haitsch) Hubbell, 87, of Nunnawauk Meadows, Newtown, wife of the late Frank Hubbell, died at Danbury Hospital on Sunday, January 7th. She was born in Danbury on March 6, 1919, daughter of the late John and Emelie (Prokopy) Haitsch. She was a graduate of Danbury High School.
Mrs. Hubbell owned and operated Newtown Package Store for ten years, she then worked as a salesperson for Jordan Marsh. She was a past member of the Board of Directors for the VNA in Bethel and Danbury. She was chairman of the first "Crop" Walk for the Poor in Newtown.
She was a founding member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Newtown. She was very active in social ministries and other activities in the church. She served as past president of the Church Ladies Guild and was past Trustee of Christ the King Church.
She will be sadly missed by her sister, Marion Haitsch of Newtown; her niece, Marilyn Barton and family of San Raphael, California; her aunt, Calista Prokopy; and her beloved cousins, Eleanor Kaul, Linda Prokopy, Nancy Purnell, Barbara McClain and Wayne Prokopy.
In addition to her second husband, Francis Hubbell, she was predeceased by her first husband, James M. Simpson. Funeral Information
Funeral Services will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Newtown on Thursday, January 11th at 11:00am. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Section of Bethel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday morning at 10:00am.
