I lost my Daddy Feb.2,09, but with God's love & peace, I've gained strength to know that Dad's in a much better place.

I had the pleasure of meeting Charlie and Lillian for the first time, safely locked in a hotel room in Manama, Bahrain. I introduced myself through a closed door. Upon hearing my name the door flung open and I was hugged by both Charlie and Lillian and I have considered them friends ever since. A few years back my wife Karla and my son Craig and I were able to visit Charlie in his home in Danbury. Charlie endeared himself to Craig when he presented him with a hand painted circular saw blade. We had a great visit and I heard all the stories Charlie was famous for. I will miss him but know that he has had such a wonderfully full life and the loving support of a great family. Our prayers are with all of you.

I was fortunate to know Mr. Bardo through his son Alan and and grandson Charlie. Thanks to Elaine, over the years, I've been given 6 "mini" books about his life starting with Jersey Shore, PA in 1917 to Bardo-Platt through 1982. He led such an enriched and full life.

My deepest sympathy to his family. Charlie was one of the nicest people I knew. I could listen to his stories for hours. When we were buying property for our business he personally walked us in to the bank presidents office and introduced us and his reference was all the credit check they needed. One of my prized possessions is an old tractor seat with a painting of a lake on it that he made. He was a true gentleman amd will be greatly missed.
