Harry Janofsky

Harry Janofsky, age 85, of Sandy Hook, formerly of Bethel, devoted husband of Gloria (Bondaroff) Janofsky, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Wednesday, August 15th. He was born in New York City on August 7, 1922, son of the late Abe and Pauline (Ball) Janofsky.
Mr. Janofsky was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army, 3165th Signal Service Company. He was a recipient of the American Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
He worked as General Traffic Manager for Berol Corp, formerly Eagle Pencil, in Danbury for 42 years. During his retirement, he and his wife, Gloria, worked alongside their sons at Quality Gem in Bethel.
Mr. Janofsky was the original Director for Hart Bus and served on the Board of Directors in Bethel for 16 years. He was a member of the Housatonic Valley Transportation Association. He was also the first president of Bethel High School's Parent Teacher Association.
In addition to his beloved wife, Gloria, he will be sadly missed by his three sons, Gerald and his wife, Lorraine of Shelton, Dennis and his wife, Doris of Bethel, Robert and his wife, Michele of Brookfield; his six grandchildren, David, Kevin, Jeffrey and Nicholas Janofsky, Jill Whittman and her husband, David, and Julie Janofsky. Graveside Services will be held at the United Jewish Cemetery, Grays Bridge Road, Brookfield, on Friday, August 17th at 1:00pm. Donations Information
