Obituary of Gabriel Bara-Bardo
Gabriel Antes “Gabe” Bara-Bardo, age 18, unexpectedly left this earthly life on Saturday, August 5, 2017. He was born in Danbury on July 26, 1999 and has been a lifelong Danbury resident. Gabriel was a beloved son, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend.
Gabe faced and overcame more tragedy and trauma in his brief 18 years that most of us will in our lifetimes. Rather than become embittered, he found meaning in his struggles and embodied strength, resiliency and compassion as he strove to help others.
Gabe loved music and was an avid guitarist who had aspirations of furthering his education by attending music school. He loved the art of tattoos and spending time with friends. Gabe was an “old soul” who often spoke in poetic terms and anyone who knew Gabe could attest to his kind and gentle nature.
Gabe not only illuminated the lives of those he touched while on this earth, but he now shines on through his decision to donate life so others may live. Gabe gave the gift of life to others through his organ donation. He was one of only 30 organ donors a year through Yale New Haven Hospital Donate Life Organization.
Gabe will be missed by many friends, but his passing will be most profoundly felt by his loving parents, Jeffrey Bardo of Danbury and Ana Bara of Bethel; his paternal grandparents who raised him, Brian and Nora Bardo of Danbury; his adoring aunt, Amy Greif and her husband, Robert of Needham, MA; his cousins, Olivia and Charlotte Greif; his three siblings, Stevie Pickering of New Milford, Thomas and Julia Bara of Bethel; and his maternal grandparents, John and Julia Bara.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Wednesday, August 16th between the hours of 4:00 and 7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to ACE Alternative Center of Excellence, 26 Locust Ave, Danbury, CT 06810, in Memory of Gabriel Bardo.
At the request of the family, in keeping with Gabe’s generous nature, please consider becoming an organ donor.
