Obituary of Marietta Avallone
Marietta (Cima) Avallone, 94, of Bethel, originally of Fondi, Italy, wife of the late Giovanni Avallone, passed away peacefully at home on the 27th of November 2018. She was born in Fondi, Italy, daughter of the late Paolo Cima and Attilia Zannella on the 13th of January 1924.
Marietta and her husband owned and operated the Old Sorrento Restaurant and Italian Pastry Shop on Liberty Street in Danbury for many years.
She is survived by her two sons, Frank Avallone and wife, Antonietta, with whom she made her home in Bethel, and Paul Avallone and wife, Gabriella of Italy; four grandsons, John Avallone and wife, Toni, of Brookfield, Frank Avallone and wife, Nicole of Bethel, Paul John Avallone of Italy and John Gabriel Avallone of Italy. She is also survived by five great grandchildren who brought her much joy and laughter, Giovanni & Gemma Avallone of Brookfield, Alayna, Lia and Natalie Avallone of Bethel. She also has many extended family members in Italy, Florida and Connecticut.
In addition to her husband, Giovanni, she was predeceased by her siblings, Onorato Cima, Concetta Avallone, Loreta Deluca.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 3rd at 10:00am at St. Mary Church, Bethel, with burial to follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Sunday between the hours of 2:00 – 4:00pm.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Robert Wenick and the Bethel Visiting Nurse Association for their tremendous help and support. They are also grateful for the staff of Regional Hospice for their compassionate care during her last days.
