Obituary of William F. Duggan, Sr.
William F. Duggan, Sr., 84, of Brookfield, previously of Mount Vernon, NY, beloved husband of Catherine (Lividini) Duggan, died at home on Wednesday, December 26. He was born in the Bronx on January 1, 1934, son of the late Edmund and Kathleen (Haggerty) Duggan. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, proudly serving with the United States Army.
Bill was a proud member of the Union Local 1 Elevator Constructors. During his years in Mount Vernon, he enjoyed acting as Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 40, and was a member of the St. Ursula musical theater group and their folk choir, where he was well known for his incredible humor in playing the roles of Cinderella, Snow White, and Honey Bun.
Upon retiring to Brookfield, he volunteered as a driver for the Praxair Cancer Center. He was a member of the Woodcarvers of Danbury. He also enjoyed raising and keeping pigeons and visiting with his fellow pigeon keepers.
Most important, Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his beloved wife of 63 years, Catherine, he will be sadly missed by his six children, Robert (Toba), Michael (Terry), Lisa Santomero (Gary), William, Jr., Patricia Egan (Justin), and Catherine Mahon (Timothy); his grandchildren, Erika, Melissa, Hannah, Michael, Mark, Laura, Nicole, Michael, Nicholas, Daniel, Milly, Kieran, Simon, Alexandra, Sara, Grayson, Ashley, Rebecca, and Emily; his six great-grandchildren; and his daughter-in-law, Heather Duggan. He is also survived by his brother, Edmund; and his sisters, Mary Sheehan and Grace Morrin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 29 at 10:30am at St. Joseph Church, Brookfield.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday (Today) between the hours of 4:00 - 8:00pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Boys Scouts of America, Troop 40 in Mount Vernon, NY.
