Obituary of Martin F. Sivacek

On January 5, 2019 Martin (85) passed peacefully following a lengthy illness. His entire family will sadly miss him. Born on January 26, 1933 to the late Martin and Anna (Kolesar) Sivacek, Martin was a lifelong resident of Danbury and a graduate of Henry Abbott Technical School.

Prior to his retirement in 2013 Martin enjoyed a life-long career as a Fine Machinist employed by both Drake Engineering and G&P Tool Company. A veteran of the Korean War, Martin served his country proudly as a Corporal in the U.S. Army.

A devoted husband and father Martin was an avid outdoorsman, a licensed pilot, a member of the Housatonic Flying Club, a member of the local Sokol Chapter, Lodge 30 and a member of St. Paul’s Church. Martin loved spending time with his family with whom he traveled extensively over his lifetime.

Having been predeceased by his loving sister Ethel Omasta, Martin is survived by his beloved spouse Clara (Bogner) Sivacek of 61 years and his two children, Gary Sivacek and his partner Amie McVerry, and Karen (Sivacek) Knudsen and her husband Arthur. Several loving nieces and nephews along with their spouses and children also survive Martin.

The family would like to thank the caregivers and medical staff at Saint John Paul II Center who helped to provide expert support and compassionate care to the end.
